Yes, you read it right 2Gbps internet speed for only PHP 2200... but wait this is not in the Philippines. A well known electronics company SONY has their own ISP in Japan named So-Net which launched the so called "Nuro" package that has a mind boggling maximum speed of 2Gbps. Imagine that even if it will only have a 10% reliability it will still be 200Mbps connection and you can download a full HD movie of about 10GB in just 50 seconds.
The So-Net utilizes the Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) infrastructure. GPON has 2.488 Gbps of downstream bandwidth and 1.244 Gbps of upstream bandwidth. The So-Net offers 2Gbps unlimited plan for only $50 which is about Php2200 with the current exchange rate. You need to pay a one time installation fee amounting to $540 and a locked-up period of two years.
I just wonder when will that kind of speed and low monthly ever come in the our country. Many would agree that currently the internet provided in the Philippines sucks in terms of speed as well as monthly fee not to mention the not-so-good customer service.
How about you? How much do you pay for your internet connection?
