Canonical turns to Indiegogo for funding of their latest project, the Ubuntu Edge. The project aims to provide a low-volume, high-technology platform, crowdfunded by enthusiasts and mobile computing professionals. The Ubuntu Edge is a smarthphone that can be converted to a full blown computing device (Ubuntu PC) when connected to a larger display.
It will boast a 4.5 inch HD pure Sapphire crystal display that only Diamond can scratch it and the smartphone will be housed in a textured amorphous metal. It will also be powered by the fastest multi-core processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The battery will be the a newer technology, a Silicon-Anode Li-Ion. It will be a dual boot Ubuntu Mobile and Android, therefore you won't have any problem looking for your favorite apps.
The project is aiming for a huge $32,000,000 goal and as of this writing it already reached 10% or about $3.2 million.
