The Torque Droidz Quad was announced as early as June together with the Droidz Motion, however it came on the market just this August. The Droidz Quad as you may guess is a quad-core Android smartphone. It uses the well known MediaTek MT6589 chipset with its CPU clock up to 1.2GHz together coupled with PowerVR SGX544MP.

The unit is housed in an all plastic body,  I got a white unit and it seems to catch up dirt fast so I suggest you use the free Jelly Case upon using it. There is also a free screen protector but it is not yet installed therefore you can ask their technician to install it for you.

Key Specs:

  • Dual SIM, Dual Standby
  • 4.5" capacitive FWVGA (854x480), 5-point multi-touch
  • Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1
  • 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 Quad Core CPU, PowerVR SGX544MP GPU MediaTek MT6589 chipset
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 4GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via micro SD
  • 8MP auto focus main camera with LED flash
  • 2MP secondary camera
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Stereo FM Radio
  • 3.5mm Audio Jack
  • Micro USB 2.0
  • Bluetooth
  • GPS with A-GPS and EPO assistance.
  • 2000mAh Li-Ion Battery (Not yet confirmed since there is no label on the battery)

The Quad is a mid-range device and it is the first quad-core phone released by Torque, it aims to compete with the like of Arc Mobile Nitro 450QD and Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0, all of which have 512MB of memory (you can see the full comparison here).

The Antutu benchmark is higher than the Nitro 450QD (14236 versus 13859) and as far as I can remember this is the highest so far among units I reviewed.

Antutu 14236

When I run CPU-Z I was surprised because it shows a whole bunch of sensors, however only a few of them are confirmed working.

Initial impression of the unit is OK, transitions are quite fast since the refresh rate is about 67 Hz. Expect the full review soon, so if you want something to be included in the review just head on in the comment section below and share your thoughts.

  7. i had my Torque Droidz motion with 512mb's for like

2-3 months it was always lacking memory and Most of the limitations of having 512mb of RAM comes down to being unable to download apps that require 1GB of RAM

Download RAM Booster from Google Play Store.

This app has a different working concept when it comes to increasing the RAM of the Android devices.

The low priority tasks in the RAM are killed by this app, and the high priority tasks allocate the RAM by RAM Booster.

This makes sure that the Android device will always be having some space on the RAM.

Camera. I wouldn't say I'm an avid photographer, but I like to take some nice shots when I see the beautiful moments in life, and that being said I do like those shots that I take occasionally to be perfect. So camera quality is a big thing for me. the Droidz motion camera is pretty Good and I love it :)
