Samsung Galaxy Gear Now Official

Samsung Galaxy Gear

Samsung officially entered the smartwatch battlefield with brute force, meet the Galaxy Gear announced at the IFA in Berlin. The Gear boast a 1.63" Super AMOLED screen with 320x320 resolution making the display sharp and clear. The watch will be available in six colors.

Its innards are being driven by a customer built Samsung Exynos processor clocked at 800MHz coupled with 512MB of RAM which is way below the expected chipset when it was leaked. Despite of having its of CPU, the Galaxy Gear is not a standalone device, it was built as a companion device with the Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition.

It will have a 1.9MP BSI camera embedded in its band which is capable of shooting 10 seconds 720p video. The device will also have a built-in 4GB of internal storage and Samsung promised that it will last through the day with its 315mAh battery.

Reports said that the price would be as much as $299 or around 13K pesos when converted at today's exchange rate. Don't you think its a bit expensive? For that price tag you can already get a decent smartphone. So I guess this is one is a high end piece of watch.
