|MediaTek MT6596, Octa-Core SoC With LTE|
MediaTek, one of the leading chipset manufacturer from Taiwan launched on their hometown the latest and world's first 4G LTE Octa-Core processor - the MT6595 which supports 150Mbps downlink ad 50Mbps uplink.
It employs four Cortex-A17 and four Cortex-A7 CPU based ARM's big.LITTLE architecture with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing. This means the all 8 CPU cores can work at the same time. The graphics processing unit is handled by a Series6 PowerVR from Imagination Technologies.
In terms of multimedia capability, it can handle a 20MP camera, WQXGA (2560x1600) display controller, support for Ultra HD video recording/playback at 60 fps.
Aside from the 4G LTE modem, it is also the first MediaTek platform that supports 802.11ac standard, Bluetooth LE and ANT+ as well as multiple GNSS (which includes GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and Beidou). It will also support multiple inductive and resonant wireless charging standards.
This new MediaTek processor will be commercially available in the first half of 2014 and we can expect phones and tablets using this SoC second half of this year.
