Last July 6, along with the public unveiling of their brand ambassadors and ambassadress, DTC Mobile also showcased their first ever octa core device - the GT21 Neptune.

We first got a glimpse of the GT21 during the close-door media event last May, however, during that time this model number has a different name as well as specifications. Back then, it was called as the 'Extreme' which sports a 5-inch qHD display, 1GB of RAM, 32GB ROM and runs on the older Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

With the Neptune, the specs got better except for the ROM which was toned down to 16GB expandable via micro SD card up to 32GB. The screen size remains the same, but has a 720p resolution, the RAM is now 2GB and it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. This dual SIM phablet utilizes 2000mAh battery hidden in its 8.4mm thin body.

Front

The front is mainly occupied by the 5-inch IPS display, there was no mention whether it has a scratch-resistant glass or not, but we assume it is the latter. Above the screen you will find the 2MP secondary followed by the hidden sensors and earpiece grill. Below the display you have the usual capacitive Android keys.

Back

The back has a rubbery feel and has hundreds of dotted holes similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S5. Here you can find the 13MP BSI auto focus main camera accompanied by an LED flash just below it. At the lower portion, you have the loudspeaker grill and above it is the DTC branding.

Back without the over

The back cover is removable and by doing so will reveal the battery, the micro SD card slot, the regular SIM card slot and the micro SIM card slot.

Bottom

The bottom has nothing on it while the top holds both the micro USB port and the 3.5mm audio jack.

Right

The left side features the volume rocker while on the right side you can find the power button.

Although the unit during the event is a prototype/engineering device, we can still say that it has a great build quality. In terms of design, the metallic sides add elegance to the rather generic squarish phone. It is only 8.4mm thin and it feels thinner because of the angled/curved edges.
