Canon upgrades its esteemed PowerShot line, by unveiling the PowerShot SX520 HS and the PowerShot SX400 IS.
The SX520 HS is a compact, super-zoom camera with a powerful 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and Digic 4+ image processor for clearer imaging. Its 42x zoom provides a focal length range of 24 to 1008 mm.
The Canon PowerShot SX520 HS also allows users to play with their shots by using its Creative Shot feature. This gives a photographer five artistic versions of the original photo taken. To ensure that the camera won’t slip, this device has a firm, DSLR-style hand grip.

On the other hand, the Canon PowerShot SX400 IS has a 16-megapixel resolution with a 1/2.3-inch image sensor with charge-coupled device. It sports a Smart Auto function that allows users to take pictures with ease using the best setting possible. Likewise, this camera has a Zoom Framing Assist feature that lets it zoom on the photo’s subject and reverts to its original focus.
The SX400 IS also has a separate movie button that allows the recording 720p high-quality videos in high definition. This feature also allows the capture of high-quality photos that seem to be on optical zoom. Finally, the Canon PowerShot SX400 IS has an Eco Mode, which optimizes battery consumption to allow a longer usage time without charging.
