|Seagate Ships 10 Millionth Solid-State Hybrid Drive|
Seagate Technology has shipped its 10 millionth solid-state hybrid hard drives (SSHD). This milestone was aided by the increased demand for these storage drives for the past two years.
The preference for SSHD is attributed to its faster performance than traditional hard drives which helps complete tasks at a faster rate.
Seagate’s vice president of global marketing Scott Horn said that hybrid technology is proving to be a potent combination of high-performance and capacity needs that is sold at a price that IT organizations and consumers can afford.
Meanwhile, IDC Group Vice President for Storage and Semiconductors Dave Reinsel said that SSHDs will continue to be a reliable alternative for PC users who are looking to improve computer responsiveness. This is backed by the 400% industry growth rate that Seagate Technologies posted from FY2013 to FY2014.
