LG may be the first smartphone company to release a rolling robot for home use for its G5. However, ASUS thinks it has something better. At Computex 2016, the Taiwanese manufacturing giant has just announced Zenbo – a robot that looks like the love child of Wall-E's EVE and Star Wars' BB-8.

Zenbo is a home companion robot that can perform a multitude of basic operations. It can move freely around your house, see with its camera and take photos and videos, provide home monitoring as well as video calls. What's more, if you're forgetful of things, Zenbo can also speak important reminders. It can even tell stories for kids. If that's not enough, it can act as a speaker through its high-quality built-in stereo.

Zenbo is Asus' venture in the world of home robotics that can adapt to the user's preferences. It can also change facial expressions as it deems fit, making it a perfect companion for children and the elderly alike. Asus is putting a $599 price tag on Zenbo. However, at the time of writing, it's still unknown as to when the company will release the companion robot, or if it will even reach the country when it finally hits the shelf.
