|PLDT and Smart Start Fresh with Revamped Logos|
Over the course of history, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company has been widely recognized across the archipelago through its services in bringing ease of communications to the citizen. Now, the company wants to bring a new age by revamping its logo designed to reflect its desire along with Smart Communications to empower the digital services they offer to the Filipino people.
The new logo of PLDT will also mark the company’s shift in branding from “Philippine Long Distance Telephone company” into simply “PLDT Inc.” with its aim to move into data-driven services. Both Smart and PLDT are moving into transforming its networks to to offer improved digital services.

Firstly, the new logos both for PLDT and Smart are shaped similar to a triangle. Its three sides represent the company’s business pillars, namely the exceptional people, its innovations that have brought connection to the people, and its valued customers. Secondly, the triangle is also the symbol for Delta, which also stands for change.
After purchasing the 700MHz frequency from San Miguel Corporation, the company is now capitalizing on its digital movement by building up more cell sites across the Philippines. Furthermore, PLDT Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan stated that about 200 more cell sites will be opened by the end of this year to offer support for the 700MHz frequency in the country.

The new logos are now present for both companies. Whether or not the change brings an improvement in PLDT’s and Smart’s core values are yet to be seen, but it ends on a hopeful note that we are about to see some improvements before the year ends.
