|Cregle Fine-Point Active Stylus Review|
Accessories for smartphones aren't as lucrative as what it is supposed to accessorize, and a selection of them is pulled by the usual essentials that you can't leave home without. Besides standard power banks and smartphone cases, there isn't much need for other items. But for those that require all the accessibility options they can get, of course, there's a number of solutions that can justify a purchase. One accessory perhaps is Cregle's fine-pointed stylus.
The Cregle fine-pointed stylus arrives in a clear and straightforward packaging. The stylus itself is packed inside a vertical box, and inside a carton is a micro USB cable and a replaceable pen tip. That's just about it. However, our review unit didn't have the latter, so it's best for us to take good care of it while charging the stylus.
HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE:
Cregle's fine-pointed stylus, as its name suggests, is a stylus designed for mobile devices, be it for smartphone or tablet, iOS, Android, or Windows. As long as a device has a touchscreen panel, it would most likely work.
In terms of build quality, the stylus is created with a combination of aluminum and plastic. It's a bit hefty, especially if you compare it with the knock-off stylus and tips that can be attached through headphone jacks. As such, it's ideal to lug it on a slot that your backpack offers so you can easily produce it even while you're on the move.
It's quite easy to make it work, too. All you have to do is charge up the stylus through the micro USB port and with that you're good to go. However, do keep in mind that it doesn't have any pressure sensitivity. Think of it as a mouse, but you have precision controls through your hands instead of gliding through the mouse pad (which is a very daunting task to do if you're dealing with pinpoint pixels).
As far as the battery life is concerned, you really won't be having any problems running out of juice with this one. There's no indication of the ideal charging time, but we resorted to about 3 hours through a laptop. Your mileage may vary, though. The company says it can last up to 19 hours of continuous writing. Depending on your usage, it can last for just a day or two, or extend it to five if you use it sparingly, i.e. when you really need to write using it. There’s a 30-minute auto-off feature, which you can have to your advantage.
There are a whole lot of applications for a stylus, especially with one that can bring precise controls at your fingertips. Case in point, it's a bit heavy if you compare it with the professional-looking Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and its S-Pen. However, the Cregle stylus shines due to its impressive compatibility. It doesn't require apps to run, just a touchscreen display and you're all set.
