|Microsoft Lumia 950 XL|
The smartphone industry is dominated by the likes of Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS platforms, with Microsoft’s Windows 10 mobile OS being a distant third. However, despite its position in the market, Microsoft still isn’t backing down anytime soon as we see a slew of handsets that feature its mobile operating system. Now, rumors have begun surfacing, indicating that the Redmond-based company is about to end the Lumia line-up, and it will happen this December.
We’ve been seeing appealing deals for Lumia handsets in the past couple of weeks. While that may seem to be a reason to celebrate for some, it could also indicate one thing. According to the rumors, a report from a Microsoft employee suggests that all of the price cuts do make sense as a means to clear stocks.
While this may spell end of the struggling Lumia lineup, it could also be an indication that Microsoft is planning to launch a new lineup altogether. People have been eager to see a Surface Phone, and Microsoft could be leaning on that to further its position in the industry. Either way, we’ll be keeping track of it to see if the company will indeed end the Lumia lineup during the end of the year.
