Samsung Galaxy Note8 Rumored to Launch in Late September for €999

Evan Blass of VentureBeat has published a new report, claiming that Samsung will be launching the company's most expensive smartphone yet, the new Galaxy Note8, in late September.

According to the famous leakster, Samsung is now making preparations for the launch and telling partners of the phone's retail price, which is said to be €999. As to where Evan got his info, he revealed that he got it from an individual who was briefed on the company's plans.

The device is reported to sport a 6.3-inch edge-to-edge AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9 same as the Galaxy S8 duo and will be unveiled in the second half of September, contradicting a previous rumor saying the launch will be in late August.

The report also contained some of the key specs of the new Galaxy Note8, including a dual camera setup on the back, which combines two 12-megapixel sensors, placed horizontally to the left of the flash and heart rate sensor.

Moreover, the Galaxy Note8 is said to come with the same Exynos 8895 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipsets, the same ones found on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, paired with 6GB of RAM. A 3300mAh battery will keep it running and will come with an improved S Pen similar to its siblings in the Galaxy Note series and DeX capability.

If this rumor is true, then we'll be seeing the Samsung Galaxy Note8 in late September with a retail price of €999 or about Php56K in black, blue, and gold colors as the source mentioned.

YouTube Introduces VR180 Format for Creating VR Content

YouTube, in partnership with Google's Daydream team, has introduced a new video format called the VR180, allowing creators to create immersive VR content even easier and viewers to get a whole new angle on videos they care about.

The VR180 offers an 180-degree field of view, and with the help of VR glasses, viewers will be able to watch high-res videos in 3D on both desktop and mobile. Without the glasses, the video will appear like a regular 2D video.

YouTube's latest VR180 video format works with Google's Cardboard, Daydream, and PSVR and supports live streaming for creators and viewers to better interact in real time.

Creators can take advantage of the new VR180 without having to set up any special equipment to film the videos. Creators can film as they normally would with any kind of camera. Still, with that being said, YouTube shared that the Daydream team is "working with several manufacturers to build cameras from the ground up" for VR180.

Soon, we might see cameras from YI, Lenovo, and LG that will make the best use of the video format. In addition, YouTube also opened a VR180 certification program for other manufactures and Z CAM will be one of their first partners.

'MyPhone' Unveils Brown 2; AMOLED Display, Octa Core, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM

Aside from the Brown 1, Solid Group Inc., the mother company of MyPhone, also unveiled another smartphone under the new brand Brown and Proud Movement, the Brown 2.

The Brown 2 sports better specs than the Brown 1, in fact, it is way much better in almost every aspect, at least on paper. It comes with 5.2-inch display, although still HD in resolution, it uses AMOLED technology instead of traditional IPS LCD. On the inside, it is powered by an octa core processor as opposed to just a quad core of its smaller sibling. The RAM is double at 4GB, while the internal storage is now 64GB.

The main camera got some improvement too, the resolution is now 16MP, while the secondary shooter is still pegged at 8MP. The other known specs as of the time of posting are dual SIM with LTE connectivity, expandable storage, fingerprint sensor, OTG function, and runs on Android Nougat.

There is no mention yet about its price tag, but expect it to be over 10K pesos as the Brown 1 is already set at Php9.5K. Again, the information we know is still limited, but the Brown and Proud Movement is not just about gadgets and devices, there is more to it than meets the eye. Or, shall I say, every purchase comes with exclusive membership to the Brown and Proud Movement, rewards, perks, and the chance to even earn millions of pesos.

BlackBerry Phone with Snapdragon 625/626 Chipset, 1080p Display Spotted

A new BlackBerry phone carrying the model number BBD100-1 has been spotted at a User Agent Profile (UAProf) on one of TCL's websites.

TCL is the company currently manufacturing BlackBerry phones, and the new phone spotted on one of its websites is said to sport a display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and an aspect ratio of 16:9, revealing that the device might only have a touchscreen display and won't come with a physical keyboard, unless BlackBerry got some other ideas.

In addition, the BlackBerry BBD100-1 is listed with a MSM8953 processor, which gives us a reason to believe that it might come with either a Qualcomm Snadragon 625 chipset or a Snapdragon 626 SoC. The former is the same one found inside the KEYone, a phone announced in February this year and the one pictured above.

Details of the new BlackBerry phone are still vague as of the moment, but the sudden appearance of the device proves that the company is working on a new phone that might get released in the next couple of months or maybe year.

'MyPhone' Launches Brown 1; Quad Core Android Nougat & Just 5.8mm Thin
'MyPhone' Launches Brown 1; Quad Core Android Nougat & Just 5.8mm Thin

Solid Group Inc., the company behind MySolid Technologies and Devices Corporation or commonly known as MyPhone, recently launched another product line, which is still tech-related, but with something more into it, the Brown and Proud Movement.

Based on initial reports, the Brown and Proud Movement operates or behaves like a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) company and promises to give its member an opportunity to earn million of pesos. This may sound absurd, but they are backed with big brands of the industry, with the like of HOOQ, My Inquirer, PayMaya, and Converge ICT.

But we will not talk about how to earn, and promise, we will not ask your precious time just to have coffee with us. Anyway, the 'movement' showcases their gadgets during the event, one of them is the Brown 1.

The Brown 1 sports a 4.7-inch display with IPS panel and HD resolution. On the inside, it is powered by a quad core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.

Meanwhile, the camera department employs a 13MP main shooter, and an 8MP front snapper. This dual SIM handset supports LTE connectivity, has fingerprint sensor, runs on Android Nougat, and just 5.8mm thin. It also comes with Brown and Proud Dream Portal, and other pre-installed applications related to the Brown and Proud Movement.

It will be available in August, and the official asking price is Php9,500, which is a bit steep if the technical specs will be the basis. But then again, there is an MLM business component here that we do not know so far that could be the reason of the inflated SRP.

Spotify Introduces Group Playlists for Facebook Messenger

Now with over 140 million users, Spotify excitedly introduces a new feature called Group Playlists for Facebook Messenger, allowing users to share their favorite music with friends.

In April, during its annual developer's conference, Facebook announced its collaboration with Spotify. Now, with the Group Playlists, users get to create Spotify playlists containing music that can be used on different occasions such as road trips, parties, or music sessions with friends inside the Messenger app.

To make use of this new feature in Messenger, simply tap the "+" button located at the lower left corner of the group chat window. You can then choose Spotify under the chat Extensions to start creating playlists. Everyone in the group chat can collaborate, add new songs to the playlist depending on their music tastes, and stream the songs together.

The cool thing about this new feature is that even friends who aren't on Spotify, which is now considered to be the world's biggest online music streaming service, can add songs and enjoy the new feature in Messenger.

The new Spotify Group Playlists feature in Messenger is now available on both Android and iOs.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 to Possibly Launch on August 26 in New York

Samsung Galaxy Note8 to Possibly Launch on August 26 in New York

If the latest report from OSEN via South Korean web portal Naver is accurate, then we might soon see the new Galaxy Note8 on August 26 in New York, as Samsung officially unveils the device.

Previous rumors pointed to an early August launch, similar to the launch date of the ill-fated Note7. However, according to the Naver report, Samsung will unveil its next high-end phablet on August 26 this year at an event in New York, which is almost a month later than expected.

The report also stated that Samsung initially planned to launch the Galaxy Note8 at IFA 2017 in Berlin, Germany in September, but the South Korean tech giant decided to set an earlier date so as not to coincide with rival Apple's release of the next iPhone in the same month.

Also, it was mentioned in the report that the Galaxy Note8 will come with a 6.3-inch Infinity Display, slightly improved S Pen, dual cameras, and a fingerprint scanner embedded on the back similar to the ones on the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

The last bit might not be accurate, though, as there were previous reports stating that the fingerprint sensor will now be located at the center of the device since it was difficult to reach it when placed beside the rear camera.

No word yet on local launch and availability.
