MediaTek's latest addition to the Helio P mobile processor family has arrived, the new Helio P25 chipset, which combines the power of 16nm octa-core processing with MediaTek Imagiq and dual camera features.

The new MediaTek Helio P25 chipset is specifically designed for smartphone photographers, particularly those with dual cameras. It offers premium quality imaging, high-end camera features, and other innovative photography technology.

The Helio P25 marks the evolution of the Helio P series, which includes the Helio P10 and P20, as it combines the dual-camera support with power-saving technology that offers up to 25% better power efficiency and advanced multimedia capabilities.

Equipped with Image Signal Processing (ISP) features, MediaTek's new chipset gives easy access to advanced camera effects such as shallow depth-of-field and high-performance auto exposure that lets users capture the highest quality images in any lighting scenario.

The new MediaTek Helio P25 12-bit Dual ISP offers:

  • Pioneering Resolution: Up to 24MP single camera or 13MP+13MP dual camera
  • Dual Camera-optimized: Color + Mono de-noise and real-time shallow DoF bokeh
  • High Dynamic Range: Video HDR with full preview
  • High Performance Auto Exposure: Turbo 3A to accelerate AE convergence speed by 30-55%

The octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor is clocked at up to 2.5GHz. On the graphics side, the new chipset benefits from the recent ARM Mali-T880 dual GPU clocked at up to 900MHz.

MediaTek's Helio P25 chipset supports enhanced uploads in LTE with advanced power efficiency features, including compatibility with MediaTek’s Envelope Tracking Modulator. It also supports low-power double data rate random access memory (LPDDR4x) up to 6GB.

Smartphones that are powered by the new Helio P25 chipset are expected to arrive on the market in the first quarter of 2017.
