|Xiaomi Set to Launch New Pinecone Mobile Chipset on Feb 28|
Xiaomi is about to officially introduce its very own Pinecone mobile chipset on the last day of this month. The announcement came through an invitation posted on Weibo for a February 28 event at the China National Convention Center in Beijing.
This venture will soon throw Xiaomi at the circle of Samsung, Apple and Huawei, which are the other three tech giants that produce their own chipsets. The release of the new mobile chipset will make Xiaomi the second Chinese company after Huawei that produces in-house SoC.

With the help of Leadcore, a Chinese semiconductor company providing system-on-chip solutions for mobile devices, Xiaomi has been able to develop the new Pinecone mobile chipset. The news of their partnership came out more than two years ago, and now they are about ready to give us more details on their newest offering.
If Pinecone gets officially introduced in the market, we believe that Xiaomi will start using it on their smartphone devices. It is only a matter of time until we get to see a device powered by said chipset.
Xiaomi is yet to fully confirm the name Pinecone, as it is only the direct translation of the Chinese term. There's a huge possibility that the official name of the mobile chipset might change when it is officially announced on February 28.
