Samsung Reportedly Set to Manufacture Apple's 7nm Chipsets for Next Year's iPhone

Samsung Reportedly Set to Manufacture Apple's 7nm Chipsets for Next Year's iPhone

After reportedly purchasing extreme ultra violet lithography machines, Samsung is said to have sealed the deal with Apple and will be the one manufacturing the chips for next year's iPhone.

Back in 2013, Samsung, who used to be a major chip producer for Apple, is said to have lost the deal in favor of its Taiwanese rival TSMC. This time, however, the Korean tech giant found its footing and will be producing the 7nm mobile processors exclusively for Apple's 2018 iPhone.

One of Samsung's three co-CEOs, Kwon Oh-hyun, is reported to have made this partnership possible. The Korean tech giant now plans to finish its own tests for the new chip-making UV machines and seek Apple's approval before eventually starting the production of the SoCs.

Also, apart from the chipsets, Samsung is considered as the sole OLED provider for the upcoming iPhone, and this appears to have helped in finalizing the deal for the chips.
