Xiaomi Reportedly Launching New Lanmi Sub-brand to Compete Against OPPO and Vivo

Xiaomi is reportedly launching a new sub-brand, and it will be called Lanmi with its first smartphone model named the X1. The brand's name is said to have been obtained from 蓝米 (Blue Rice), which is written as “Lán mǐ” and pronounced as “Lan me."

The report says that Lanmi will be taking on OPPO and Vivo, with a top celebrity as its brand ambassador. And, the X1 will be its first smartphone model, as revealed by Weibo user @贰手藝術家, who happened to be the one who also revealed the name of the sub-brand.

Meanwhile, another source revealed that the Lanmi X1 will be available in two main models with four variants each, with one having a 5.5-inch display with a 2160 x 1080 resolution. It is also expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset and Sony IMX362 or IM368 sensors on the rear. There will also be a fingerprint scanner mounted on the back.

The second model, on the other hand, will have a 5.5-inch display 1080p display with the same Snapdragon 660 processor and same camera configuration. The fingerprint scanner, however, will be located at the front.

The variants of the Lanmi X1 are said to be: 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM, and 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM. There will surely be some changes when the official announcement from Xiaomi arrives, so kindly take this news with an open mind.
