With the recent completion of the Philippines and Indonesia portion, the seven-member Southeast Asia – United States (SEA-US) cable group revealed that the full commercial operations of the undersea cable system has been accomplished.

Through the successful USD250-million submarine fiber cable system, Asia is now directly linked to the United States (U.S.), which means consumers can now expect a faster data transmission, more efficient connectivity, and greater network resiliency.

According to Globe, the undersea cable system will surely provide an additional capacity for the exponential growth of bandwidth between Asia and U.S.

In the country, the system is thoughtfully located in Davao to meet the growing business need for data in Southern Philippines, and nationwide.

“We are happy that the final leg of the SEA-US cable strategically terminating in Davao, is already done. We are proud to be part of this landmark undertaking because of the immense benefits that it brings to the country and the rest of the Southeast Asian region. The facility will not only ease our dependence on the two international cable systems routed through Northern Philippines but will also provide support for the expanding business requirement for data in Southern Philippines and the country as a whole,” President and CEO of Globe Telecom Ernest Cu addressed.

Meanwhile, General Manager of NEC’s Submarine Network Division Toru Kawauchi claimed that there were numbers of obstacle in completing the SEA-US cable system. However, cable owners successfully overcame it, and are now looking forward to many more years of enhancing their partnership in order to upgrade the global connectivity.
