ARM Unveils DynamIQ Microarchitecture that Centers on AI and Machine Learning

ARM has unveiled a new multi-core microarchitecture called DynamIQ, which is designed for future Cortex-A processors that will serve the automotive industry, homes, smartphones, and other connected devices.

DynamIQ technology centers on artificial intelligence and machine learning. It is an evolution of ARM's big.LITTLE technology, which pairs big and little processors, now allowing big.LITTLE configurations of up to eight different CPU cores on a single compute cluster for the first time.

ARM claims that DynamIQ big.LITTLE configurations can now feature 1+3, 1+7, and other core configurations that we haven't seen before, allowing the birth of SOCs designed with right-sized compute and heterogeneous processing.

Later this year, DynamIQ will bring several new features, capabilities, and benefits to ARM's Cortex-A processors, including new dedicated processor instructions for machine learning and AI, increased multi-core flexibility, more performance within restricted thermal budgets, and safer autonomous systems.

Moreover, ARM's DynamIQ technology will allow future Cortex-A processors to deliver a 50 times boost on AI and 10 times faster response between the CPU and on-chip accelerator.

ARM is expected to transform and accelerate computing solutions. Introducing DynamIQ technology, which builds on a total computing approach that creates a vast network of securely connected smart devices, allows the company to revolutionize technology experiences and enhance people's lives.

Samsung claims that this virtual assistant is fundamentally different from other assistants that are now in the market, as it offers a deeper experience through its proficiency in three properties that include completeness, context awareness, and cognitive tolerance.

Instagram Now Lets You Save Live Videos to Your Phone

Instagram has just started rolling out a new update that allows users to save their live videos to their phones at the end of a broadcast.

Previously, live videos just disappear from the app after ending it without an opportunity for users to go back to a record of what just happened. Thanks to Instagram's latest update, users can now have the option to save live videos after a broadcast and rewatch it later.

The live video would still disappear from the app when it's done, but users will now get a chance to have a copy of it on their phones.

To take advantage of this new update, simply tap the Save button in the upper right corner of the app at the end of the live broadcast.

Take note, though, that only the video will be saved and not the comments, likes, number of viewers, or any live interactions. After saving, tap Done, and then you'll see the live video on your phone's camera roll but not in the app.

These updates are considered part of the Instagram version 10.12 that is available for iOS on the App Store and Google Play.

Visa Introduces Payment-Enabled Sunglasses That Can Pay for Things

Visa is changing the way we pay for things with the introduction of its newest payment-enabled sunglasses that lets you tap it on NFC-enabled payment terminals.

The sunglasses, which appears to be a pair of regular shades, uses NFC technology to connect to a Visa payment terminal. The prototype was recently unveiled at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas and simultaneously at the World Surf League's 2017 Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro in Gold Coast, Australia.

Local Australian brand called Local Supply is said to have made the glasses that contain a small contactless card, which allows it work as a contactless payment method.

To use it for payment, you simply have to take off the sunglasses and tap it on the NFC-enabled Visa terminal. No need for swiping. It is pegged to benefit surfers who stay on the beach and want to make a purchase without their wallets with them. Bringing sunglasses rather than a wallet make a lot of sense.

We have no word yet whether it will reach non-surfing customers. There's also no announcement yet regarding its cost and availability. But, we sure are interested in getting a hold of one of these Visa sunglasses if it ever reaches our local shores.

Apart from the heart rate sensor, the Alta HR also has the SmartTrack Auto Exercise Recognition that auto-detects workouts like running, elliptical, and biking among others. Similar to its siblings, it has the Reminders to Move feature.

The Alta HR has auto sleep tracking, as well. It shows you your sleep stages - light, deep, and REM - as well as your sleep schedule. What's also cool about this band is that its battery can last up to 7 days on a single charge.

The Fitbit Alta HR fitness tracker is now available for pre-order and will retail sometime in April in the Philippines at an SRP of Php8,690. The Special Edition Alta HR will be priced at Php9,900.

For fitness bands, the Classic will retail at Php1,448. The Luxe Leather, on the other hand, will cost Php3,380, and the Luxe Metal Bracelet will be available for Php4,950.
