Cherry Mobile silently released a new Android smartphone, this time in the entry-level category - the Amethyst, which can be yours for only Php2,299. It packs a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with HVGA resolution powered by a 1GHz dual core processor.

As we all know, budget phones need to sacrifice something in order to achieve its relatively cheap pricing, for the Amethyst it is the RAM capacity which is only 256MB. And based on our experience, it would limit the choice of apps and games that you can install on your phone.

The good new is, it has 3G, which means you can browse the internet and update your social accounts at an acceptable speed even if you are on the go. Other specs include WiFi, dual SIM dual standby, 2MP main camera, VGA front camera and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
