SKK Mobile Glimpse 2 Unboxing, Preview And Initial Impression |
INTRODUCTION:
Recently, SKK Mobile released their cheapest 4-inch dual core phone - the SKK Mobile Glimpse 2. It sports WVGA (800x480) screen resolution powered by MediaTek MT6572 with two CPU cores clocked at 1.2GHz each.
CPU-Z Info |
The Glimpse 2 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and currently available for Php1,999 in five different colors.
UNBOXING:

Retail Package |
The retail package covers all the basics, it consists of the unit, battery, wired headset, USB cable, charger, manual and warranty card.
HARDWARE:
Front |
The front is mainly occupied by the display, below it are the capacitive menu, home and back keys while above screen you will find the earpiece grill. The secondary camera is center-aligned just above the earpiece.
Back |
The back is made of glossy plastic which is prone to finger prints and smudges. In the upper portion, you have the main camera accompanied by an LED flash while at lower part is just the SKK Mobile logo.
Battery, Micro SD and SIM Slots |
Removing the back cover is relatively easy, you just need to start from the lower right corner. The cover actually envelops all sides which extend up to the front (the same implementation with that of Lumia or Asha series of Microsoft Devices). Once removed, you can now see the 1300mAh battery, the micro SD slot, regular SIM and micro SIM slots.
Top |
Bottom |
The micro USB port and the 3.5mm jack are located at the top of the device while the loudspeaker grill and microphone pinhole are placed at the bottom.

Right |
After seeing the photos above, I believed you already know that its design got a lot of inspiration from the Apple iPhone 5C. In terms of build quality, I can say that it is more than OK for its price.
DISPLAY:
2-point touch |
The screen size and resolution is the same with the original Glimpse, 4-inch WVGA. The display is made of ordinary panel, it is clear and bright, but viewing angles are limited and only supports 2-point touch.
SENSORS:
Sensors |
The CPU-Z and Android Sensor Box shows three sensors namely Accelerometer, Proximity and Light, however, during test only the first two works. Please also take note that the proximity activation is implemented on the screen itself (about 3cm at the upper part).

This budget smartphone is powered by 1.2GHz dual core MT6572 processor coupled with 256MB of RAM. It scores fair enough on our favorite benchmarks which are in a similar range with other devices with the same chipset and memory like the SKK Mobile Neo and SKK Mobile Charm.
