Google Officially Launched Android One in the Philippines

Earlier today, Google Philippines Head Kenneth Lingan together with Google's Vice President for Product Management Caesar Sengupta announced that the Android One platform is now officially available in the country.

The Android One is a program to make a high-quality smartphones accessible to many users as much possible for a very reasonable price tag. To expound further, these devices have pretty decent hardware specs combined with the latest available Android version for up to two years. The updates itself will come directly from Google wherein it will have at least one major software update.

Cherry Mobile One and MyPhone Uno

To be able to bring this to Filipinos, the Silicon Valley software giant has teamed up with two of the most well-known local brands, Cherry Mobile and MyPhone. The first two phones came from these two companies, the Cherry Mobile One and the MyPhone Uno.

Both devices have similar specifications (4.5-inch display, quad core processor, 1GB of RAM, etc.) and runs on the latest Android Lollipop with a confirmed future update for Android M, the next Android version that will come out later this year.

Google also partnered with local telcos to bring updates easier, faster and most importantly free for the first six months. This means that all the amount of data consumed during OTA update is free for the said period of time.
