| Smart to Double LTE Capacity in Marikina, Quezon City |
PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) recently announced that the company is upgrading its cell sites in Marikina and Quezon City as part of its network expansion and modernization program.
Smart boasted that this upgrade will enhance their mobile data service, and will provide superior network capacity to subscribers located in the two cities.
Meanwhile, the company asked consumers for its consideration as they execute this upgrade.
“We are doing a lot of work in our facilities so please bear with us as we execute this. From the work that we’ve already completed, our customers are already reporting much improved LTE and 3G experience. They will enjoy progressively better mobile data services in the next few months, particularly for those using LTE devices,” Mario G. Tamayo, PLDT and Smart Senior Vice President for Network Planning and Engineering, explained.

Smart also revealed that by the end of their upgrades, subscribers can expect for an improved 700MHz and 1800MHz frequencies coverage in the area. With this, indoor coverage will be widened, and will increase each cell site’s capacity in handling calls, texts, and data traffic.
Rolling out this LTE upgrade will minimize disruption or degradation of services in the affected areas, too.
