Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus Unveils in PH; 18:9 Display, Octa Core SD625, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM for Php9,990

Along with the Redmi 5A, Xiaomi Philippines thru its partner Grimalkin Corporation unveils another bang for buck smartphone that will surely shake the local market, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, also known as Redmi Note 5 in some regions, boasts a 5.99-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution, that is 2160 x 1080 resolution, which simply means it has an 18:9 aspect ratio, the first among any other Xiaomi devices. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC that has octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU bundled with Adreno 506 GPU, it is the same chipset found on the Xiaomi Mi A1. In terms of memory, this variant will have a 4GB ROM and 64GB of internal storage.

Photography wise, there is a 12MP f/2.2 main module on its back with 1.25um pixel size paired with dual-tone LED flash, while a 5MP front camera with its own LED selfie-light will be responsible for video calls and capturing self-portray images.

The other selling points of the Redmi 5 Plus are the huge 4000mAh battery, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Android Nougat Operating System with MIUI 9 on top.

Surprisingly, Xiaomi priced it aggressively, with a suggested retail price tag of Php9,990. It is too early to tell, but with the number of Mi fans in the Philippines and the good price-to-specs ratio, this could be a big hit when it finally lands in all Mi Store nationwide this coming March 17, 2018.
