National Geographic has officially announced its upcoming Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2018, slated on April 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds. Doing this for nine years in the Philippines, National Geographic has tapped PayMaya as one of their official partners to reinforce its commitment to preserve the planet.

As part of its collaboration, PayMaya has unveiled its Limited Edition National Geographic card, which will be given to Nat Geo Run runners. However, the card won’t be offered to consumers, as it is exclusively designed for the Earth Day Run.

Also teaming up with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines, Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2018 will focus on the #NotPlastic campaign, which will tackle the country’s issue on single-use plastics that pollute oceans and threaten marine biodiversity.

“The Philippines has been identified as the third highest plastic polluter in the world. In response to this, the two organizations aim to increase awareness on plastic waste and push programs that focus on plastic waste management by utilizing the proceeds of the highly-anticipated annual run for the environment,” Jose Angelito Palma, WWF President and CEO, addressed.

In the country, National Geographic is expecting 15,000 participants across the 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K categories.

Registered runners will also be given a singlet, race bib, timing chip, water bottle, and towel. A finisher’s medal and shirt will also be added to 21K race finishers, while 10K finishers will have a finisher’s medal, too.

Registration fee for the 3K, 5K, 10K and 21k categories are at Php750, Php850, Php950 and Php1,4000, respectively. To register, you can log onto Nat Geo Earth Day Run website. Offline registration is available at authorized booths located at SM MOA, SM Aura, and SM the Block.
