As part of Nokia Saving Lives, the drone system aims to boost the disaster response efforts of the Philippine Red Cross as it doubles as communications technology and technical assistance to rescuers.

Helping Red Cross to be more efficient, the system includes drones, portable data center, mobile broadband network, and applications such as video streaming, gas sensing, mapping, and analytics. Through this, Red Cross response teams will know the current status of lifelines, as well as the immediate needs and gaps.

Moreover, the drone can pack different types of cameras, sensors and speakers. It can carry first aid kits, too.

Also, the system can create a secure communication between drones, other equipment and rescue team members through Smart’s high-speed LTE connectivity and Nokia’s portable Ultra Compact Network.

“Nokia is committed to using technology to make people’s lives better. With our Nokia Manila Technology Center, we’re honored to collaborate with Smart and the Philippine Red Cross in this disaster management enhancement project utilizing LTE connected drones in Philippines, helping the country improve emergency response and save lives,” Nicolas Bouverot, Nokia’s Head of Market Unit, Asia South, addressed.

Isberto noted.

Meanwhile, Smart’s support to the Red Cross shows it commitment to its #SafePH advocacy that eyes to help build resilient communities and reduce disaster-related casualties through technology.
