Before it was launched, MediaTek already explained that it skipped the Helio P80 to highlight Helio P90’s significant improvements from the Helio P70. Moreover, they teased that it would be powerful, efficient, and a ground-breaking AI.

Now, MediaTek has officially announced the Helio P90, claiming that it’s an AI powerhouse SoC.

Featuring APU 2.0 AI architecture, the Helio P90 is expected to deliver 4x more power than the Helio P70 and Helio P60 chips. It is also said to perform heavy AI tasks effortlessly with faster and high accuracy results. The company promised a longer battery life than its predecessors, too.

The Helio P90 is engineered with 2x ARM Cortex-A75 and 6x ARM Cortex-A55 clocked at 2.2GHz and 2.0GHz, respectively. It is complemented with an Imagination PowerVR GM 9446 GPU, as well.

Through this, the new chipset can support up to 48-megapixel camera or 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual shooters. Hence, we can expect that upcoming smartphones, which will load the Helio P90, will surely deliver a great mobile photography. In fact, its AI can accurately detect faces and scenes in real-time even in low-light and moving settings according to MediaTek.

Moreover, it also has support for dual SIM dual VoLTE 4G LTE WorldMode with a fast Cat-12 (DL) / Cat-13 (UL) 4G LTE modem, 2x2 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0.

The Helio P90 is expected to power up smartphones beginning Q1 2019.
