Global technology giant Xiaomi has recently announced its strategic partnership with IKEA, making the former the one to power up IKEA’s full range of smart lighting products which will be connected to Xiaomi’s IoT platform starting this December in China.

This is also the first time that IKEA, a Swedish company, has partnered with a Chinese technology firm.

The Xiaomi IoT platform has connected more than 132 million smart devices, not including mobile phones and laptops, and has more than 20 million daily active devices in more than 200 countries and regions, as of September 30 of this year. Xiaomi’s Xiao AI voice assistant, on the other hand, has been activated to more than 100 million devices with monthly active users exceeding 34 million and cumulative wake-up time accounting for more than 8 billion.

“IKEA and Xiaomi share very similar values and I believe our cooperation will accelerate the development of the smart home industry across the world,” said Fan Dian, General Manager of the IoT platform department of Xiaomi.

Supporting this statement, Anna Pawlak-Kuliga, CEO and president of IKEA Retail China shared that she believes that both Xiaomi and IKEA will be beneficial to the partnership, and more importantly, will bring customers worldwide with smarter solutions at home.

Aside from IKEA, Xiaomi has also sealed partnerships with Ji Hotel. CHJ Automotive, and Ikongjian. With this, Xiaomi’s smart IoT devices can be applied to different sectors and scenarios.
