For its initial run, the PayMaya-equipped “Ronda Tinda” recently rolled out into the streets of Baliwag, Bulacan last March 27, 2019, where residents were able to get discounts and perks on various day-to-day grocery items and pay using PayMaya QR on their phones or their PayMaya-powered Baliwag Benefits Card via the One by PayMaya Business device.

“'Ronda Tinda’ is a concrete demonstration of bringing the cashless experience through PayMaya’s innovative digital financial services down to the grassroots level. This groundbreaking initiative can go a long way in letting residents in far-flung areas benefit from what this emerging new economy has to offer,” said PayMaya chief operating officer and managing director Paolo Azzola.

The roving grocery vans contains products from South Emerald and other partners including canned goods, toiletries, laundry supplies, and many more. Each Ronda Tinda van is equipped with a PayMaya QR code so shoppers can pay using only their phones and the One by PayMaya Business device to accept card and other types of payments. South Emerald’s roving grocery van is now available for franchise at https://bidastar.ph.

With the presence of Ronda Tinda in local communities, residents can also save on transportation costs from going to grocery stores or malls usually located at the city center because the grocery store is the one going near their homes, as in the case of Baliwag, Bulacan.
The supermarket also offered the Baliwag Benefits Card powered by PayMaya, which can be used to pay for grocery items from the Ronda Tinda van. It primarily acts as an official resident ID card that gives Baliwag citizens access to government services and merchant partners’ rewards.

Aside from these benefits, they can link the Baliwag Benefits card to their PayMaya account and take advantage of the app’s featured services including sending money, load purchase, bills payment.

This April, the Ronda Tinda van is scheduled to visit different barangays in Baliwag, Bulacan, including: Barangay Tangos, Barangay Bagong Nayon, Barangay Subic, Barangay Poblacion, Barangay Tibag, Barangay San Jose, Barangay Tarcan, Barangay Makinabang, Barangay Tiaong, Barangay Concepcion, Barangay Santa Barbara and Barangay Virgen Delas Flores.

Aside from Baliwag Bulacan, the Ronda Tinda program also targets to roll out in other locations in Bulacan such as Malolos and Bocaue, as well as metropolitan cities like Quezon City in Metro Manila and provincial cities like Kalibo in Aklan and Miagao in Iloilo.

This is not the first time that PayMaya teamed up with one of the largest supermarket chains in Southern Luzon. They also worked together to provide a PayMaya-powered loyalty card to their shoppers.
