OPPO has announced its collaboration with The Championships, Wimbledon, making the Chinese mobile maker as its official smartphone partner and first ever Asian partner.

OPPO revealed that its five-year contract will begin on The Championships this 2019, marking its first move into tennis. Apart from this, the smartphone manufacturer also teamed up with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

This partnership allows OPPO to strengthen its presence across the UK and Europe. Proving that it’s a win-win situation, the brand claimed that it can help Wimbledon to grow its reach in markets that OPPO covers, particularly China.

“We are thrilled to announce we are the first Asian partner of The Championships, Wimbledon. The Championships have a strong synergy with our brand values of prioritizing innovation and design in our products. We are confident this partnership will further strengthen our expansion plans across the European marketplace and in turn our communication globally,” OPPO Vice President Brian Shen addressed.

Through this collaboration, the OPPO Find X and Reno model will be used to bring the beauty of Wimbledon to life. Simultaneously, it will provide a great vehicle for OPPO’s new brand strategy for more unified and in-depth communication with consumers on a global scale.

Some of the best photos taken on OPPO smartphones will be selected for inclusion in an OPPO Wimbledon photo gallery. An OPPO Breakthrough Award will also be given to young players who make major impacts competing at Wimbledon.

The launch of the partnership was made official by a ceremonial signing between Shen, Desmond, and Tim Henman – AELTC Committee Member.
