Mislatel Rebrands as Dito Telecommunity, Gets License to Operate |
During the ceremony in Malacañang, Duterte gave Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to Mislatel, which is headed by Davao businessman Dennis Uy.
The consortium is composed of Mindanao Islamic Telephone Co. (Mislatel), Udenna Corp., Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp., and China Telecom Corp. Ltd.
“The entry of this Mislatel Consortium – assuming that it complies with this commitment – is indeed a milestone in our efforts to provide fast, reliable, secure, and more affordable telecommunication services to the public,” Duterte addressed.

In case you missed it, Mislatel posted a Php25.7-billion performance bond for their commitments as the third major telco player. The company also promised to deliver 27 Mbps internet speed covering 37% of the country in its first year of operation. On the other hand, the brand boasted that it can offer 55 Mbps internet speed that covers 84% of the population within 5 years.

For its infrastructure and service rollout, the company is expected to spend Php257 billion.
Meanwhile, Mislatel is set to rebrand as Dito Telecommunity Corporation before kicking off its commercial operations in 2020.
