| Vivo Overtakes Samsung as the Top 1 Smartphone Vendor in PH |
In the local market, the Vivo maker has officially battled out the long-time king, Samsung, as the latter dropped to the second spot with its 19% unit share and -7% YoY growth. Meanwhile, Vivo recorded an impressive 21% total market share and a +18% YoY growth.
On the other hand, realme took the third spot and dominated the market with an 18% share and a whopping+254% Year-on-Year growth! Meanwhile, OPPO secured the fourth spot with a 17% market share but has the most slowdown with -43% YoY. Lastly, Huawei is now back on the fifth spot after falling off the top 5 last quarter.

For Vivo, its latest milestone can be attributed to a series of new technologies, products, and marketing initiatives that the company launched in 2020. This is a quite remarkable feat for Vivo as they have only released Vivo V19 Neo last quarter.
In case you missed it, Vivo also had an impressive 25% total market share and a whopping +159% YoY growth in the 4th quarter of 2019.
