Online English teaching platform 51Talk donated medical equipment worth PHP 5.25 million through the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII).

In the brief turnover ceremony attended by key officials of both 51Talk and FFCCCII, the latter’s External Affairs Committee Chairman Nelson Guevarra, on behalf of FFCCCII President Henry Lim Bon Liong expressed gratitude to 51Talk.

Guevarra related that FFCCCII has been coordinating and working with their partner organizations to send aid to hospitals and frontliners as the country continues to combat the highly contagious coronavirus.

“On behalf of FFCCCII, I would like to thank 51Talk, it’s CEO and Founder Jack Huang and Country Head Jennifer Que,” Guevarra said.

The beneficiary-hospitals of the donation which include PPEs are the Philippine General Hospital-Department of Pediatrics, St. Luke’s Medical Center-Institute of Pediatrics and Child Health, and the Metropolitan Medical Center Manila.

Que, meanwhile, said that the donation is the company’s way of lauding the sacrifices of the medical frontliners.

“What we are experiencing are extraordinary circumstances. As challenging as it seems for most of us, I admire the resolve and the courage of the Filipino frontliners who, day in and day out, are tending to the sick to keep the rest of the population safe and healthy,” Que said.

Amid the pandemic and the concurrent enhanced community quarantine, 51Talk’s 20,000-strong employees continue their jobs in a home-based work setup.
