The Samsung Galaxy M31 is considered the upgraded version of the Galaxy M30s that was launched in the last quarter of 2019. Both devices have identical 6.4-inch Infinity-U display made from Super AMOLED panel and have Full-HD+ resolution. They also have the same physical dimensions, albeit the M31 weighs 3 grams heavier.
Under the hood, the M30s and M31 have the same internals. They are powered by home-grown Exynos 9611 chipset that has a 2.3GHz octa-core processor and tri-core Mali-G72 graphics. They also have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The similarities do not stop there, both phones have the same large 6,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging capability. And the connectivity options are identical too.

Now, you might be wondering, where are the upgrades? The upgrades are in the camera department. From the triple camera setup of the M30s, it is a quad module for the Galaxy M31. It is composed of 64MP f/1.8 phase-detection autofocus main module, 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens, 5MP f/2.4 dedicated macro lens, and 5MP f/2.2 for depth sensing. The front camera resolution is upgraded too! From 16MP f/2.0 of the previous model, it is now 32MP f/2.0 for the latest offering.
