If you consider yourself an audiophile, chances are you’ve taken your time exploring various audio brands, and you might’ve come across SoundPEATS. The firm has a wide array of audio and sound products with decent quality, slowly making the brand a name to recall when it comes to speakers, earphones, and headphones. Let’s look at one of its offerings, the SoundPEATS Truengine III SE true wireless earphones.

DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS

The SoundPEATS Truengine III SE doesn’t steer away from the standard look of the brand’s earphones. In particular, its charging case looks exactly similar to that of the SoundPEATS True Free2, with an oval-shaped form factor in a clamshell design. The charging case also carries the same four-piece LED indicators for its battery status. It’s mostly made of plastic, just like the earbuds. Speaking of which, despite being made out of less premium materials for the outer cover, the SoundPEATS Trueengine 3SE looks elegant enough, thanks to its rose gold triangular plate found on both earbuds with the familiar-looking ‘S’ logo, and its transparent detail, which shows a part of the earbuds’ internals. The Truengine 3SE earbuds have tiny LED indicators as well to identify successful pairing.

Since the pair comes in an in-ear design, it’s a must for SoundPEATS to provide extra pairs of rubber ear tips. Ergonomics-wise, there’s nothing negative to say about these earphones. They fit well and sit comfortably in the ears -- the key is finding the right pair of ear tips. The earbuds also come with responsive and intuitive touch control functions, including playing/pausing music, skipping tracks, and answering calls.

Design

The SoundPEATS Truengine III SE isn’t exactly sporting earphones. Still, we appreciate how these don’t easily fall off from the ears, and they come with an IPX5 rating, which means the pair can withstand sweat and minimal water splashes, but won’t survive being submerged in the water.

PERFORMANCE

These earphones come with dual dynamic drivers composed of a titanium-plated speaker and composite diaphragm speaker, which SoundPEATS is claiming for an authentic sound, clear treble, and deep bass. True enough, music across various genres is a delight to listen to using the SoundPEATS Truengine 3SE. It delivered Adele’s ‘Send my Love to your New Lover’ with just the right balance between the artist’s powerful vocals and the background instruments. Bass-heavy tracks like David Guetta’s ‘Titanium’ also sounded good. All in all, it’s safe to say that the SoundPEATS Truengine 3SE did well in providing clean treble, decent mids, and punchy bass. However, we find it kind of lacking in noise isolation.

With Bluetooth 5.0 technology and the latest QCC3020, it’s only fitting for the SoundPEATS Truengine 3SE to have strong connectivity. Using it for a whole day while roaming around the house with the music source just sitting on the work desk gave us a pleasant listening experience without connection stutter.

Another thing that we’re putting on the list of these earphones’ strong points is its microphones -- yes, in plural form -- since each earbud has two of them. The SoundPEATS Truenegine 3SE excels in delivering crystal clear microphone quality.

BATTERY

We were able to use the SoundPEATS Truengine 3SE for an accumulated 7 hours. Take note that one earbud can be used individually while the other one is charging. The case gives you another 30 hours of music playback. Recharging the device took us almost two hours.

The SoundPEATS Truengine 3SE is proof that one doesn’t need to shell out a relatively huge amount of money just to have a decent true wireless experience. You can get a pair of these earphones for only Php2,990, which is 1,000 pesos off from its SRP, from Digital Walker Store, Beyond the Box, and Home Office.
