Leading by example, Epson Philippines upholds its dedication to sustainability and ethical consumerism.

With the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, two of the greatest public health hazards of the twenty-first century, the world has recently become more conscious of the growing human pressure on the environment.

Leading by example, Epson upholds its dedication to sustainability and ethical consumerism.
Commitment to a Green Future. Epson Philippines conducts a seminar to discuss how its employees can live a sustainable lifestyle and contribute to a green future

Since the epidemic made movement difficult for more than two years, established businesses were forced to relocate, and some industries adopted technology at a never-before-seen rate. On the one hand, the quick digitization of regional industries has opened up fresh opportunities for company expansion. On the other hand, if businesses use technology at a faster rate, there is a corresponding rise in energy demand, which could have a detrimental impact on the environment.

Epson advises businesses to focus on appropriate energy and technology utilization in light of the double-edged situation. Epson led by example by urging personnel to live sustainably during its recently finished sustainability conference for employees. The leading worldwide provider of technology spoke about the various steps it is doing to increase its commitment to sustainability.

Leadership from Epson spoke about the company's general commitment to sustainability, significant collaborations, and projects, as well as several practices that participants may commit to implementing in their own sustainability journeys. To further increase staff understanding of biodiversity and sustainable development, the event also included Dino Calderon, Project Manager of Education for Sustainable Development at the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines.

Masako Kusama, President, and Director at Epson Philippines said: "There is no telling how huge an impact we can make if our combined actions focus on solving climate change, protecting our environment, and fostering economic progress. "Epson takes pleasure in our commitment to working towards a future that is more sustainable, and we must discover the various ways—both big and small—in which we may further embrace sustainability,"

More than ever, we need to change the tide so that people and companies start pursuing sustainability goals and incorporating them into their daily operations, according to Ed Bonoan, general manager of Epson Philippines' marketing division. "Businesses must be innovative during the shift to a low-carbon economy to ensure a sustainable future. It is time for businesses to embrace responsible energy and technology usage as we go into the era of economic recovery under the new normal, and this transformation must begin with ourselves.

remembering a rich past of environmental sustainability

Since Epson fully commits to peaceful coexistence with the communities in which it operates, environmental sensitivity is inherent in its DNA.

Epson has received numerous awards throughout its 80-year existence for its efforts to have a smaller negative impact on the environment. The Philippines achieved this by successfully converting its manufacturing facility in Batangas to 100% renewable energy in 2021. Epson has joined the global movement RE100 and vowed to switch to 100% renewable energy at all Epson Group production locations across the world by 2023.

No matter how lofty the objectives, we have demonstrated over many years that Epson's actions, efforts, and innovations are always motivated by our commitment to sustainability, according to Bonoan.

Increasing total environmental commitment

With such a strong legacy of environmental stewardship, Epson sets the bar high and intensifies its dedication to sustainability going forward.

Epson 25 Renewed, its updated corporate strategy, which follows the company's aspirational objective of attaining sustainability and enhancing communities, was unveiled in 2021. Epson's updated goal calls for the company to use its effective, portable, and accurate digital technologies to connect people, things, and information.

Additionally, Epson unveiled its Environmental Vision 2050, which outlines three key commitments to achieving sustainability and enhancing communities: 1) adhering to all 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations; 2) reducing total emissions by 2030 in accordance with the 1.5oC scenario; and 3) turning into a carbon-negative and resource-free society by 2050.

"This global vision directs our corporate strategy and regional objectives. Five SDGs that we believe will have the greatest impact in Southeast Asia are the focus of a three-year sustainability strategy that we have begun, according to Bonoan.

Increasing effects through cooperation

Epson has given priority to alliances that help them further their environmental objectives during the past few years. In keeping with Epson's increased efforts to raise awareness about climate change and its consequences on the environment, Epson formed a relationship with World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines. The cooperation was established in 2021, and several projects are currently active. They introduced Museo Kalikasan earlier this year, a three-dimensional, immersive virtual museum that enables visitors from all around the world to view the exhibit from the comfort of their own homes. Epson Southeast Asia and WWF collaborated on several marine conservation and climate change programs around Asia, including the Philippines, to increase marine life and create a low-carbon future.

Epson will continue to assist WWF as they collaborate with regional people in Southern Palawan to repair a number of mangrove habitats. To empower communities to sustain the capacity building and exchange best practices, Epson will also assist WWF in establishing a Community Learning and Innovation Hub.

In order to have a beneficial effect on both our environment and the lives of those who will benefit from this more, Bonoan added, "We're pleased to finally put this cooperation into action." "Epson's dedication to sustainability has always been integrated into how we work, the goods and solutions we develop, and the actions we undertake to support our communities in fostering a greener future for the next generation."
