DITO Telecommunity, in tandem with its business-focused segment DITO BizBayan, has officially introduced the DITO BizBayani Awards during a launch event held at Revel at the Palace. Given that MSMEs constitute over 99% of registered local businesses and sustain the bulk of the country’s workforce, the initiative is designed to elevate neighborhood enterprises into icons of national economic development.

Redefining the Modern Entrepreneurial "Bayani"

During the opening address, Atty. Adel A. Tamano, Commercial Officer of DITO Telecommunity, highlighted the cultural significance underpinning the awards. He noted that the true anchors of Philippine commerce operate within local wet markets, home-based commissaries, and independent neighborhood workshops.

The Economic Weight of Philippine MSMEs

  • Share of Registered Businesses: 99%+
  • Share of National Workforce: 65%
  • Operational Equalizer: Digital Connectivity across Luzon, Visayas, & Mindanao

Atty. Tamano emphasized that digital connectivity functions as a key socioeconomic equalizer, breaking down geographic and operational barriers for home-grown family brands spanning Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

A Multi-Sectoral Coalition for Local Commerce

The award program marks a wide-reaching alliance uniting public policymakers with private sector commercial entities. High-ranking state officials—including DTI Secretary Cristina Roque and Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona—headlined the assembly alongside representatives from the following organizations:
  • Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)
  • GCash
  • JobStreet
  • DCME Holdings
  • Philippine Franchise Association (PFA)
  • Philippine Retailers Association (PRA)
  • Philippine AI Business Association (PAIBA)
  • Philippine Council for Small & Medium Businesses (PCSMB)

To solidify this multi-industry commitment, Eric R. Alberto, CEO of DITO Telecommunity, led an honorary ceremonial toast dedicating the collective platform to the country's risk-taking builders.
