With a total prize pool of USD40,000, the New Blood Championship is an upcoming DOTA 2 ((Defense of the Ancients) tournament that is set to give amateur players a chance to experience a more competitive exposure. Yes, no professional DOTA players are allowed to join in this tournament, which was organized and developed by Hong Kong-based Purpose Win Entertainment Limited (PWEL) and the Malaysian company Fallout Gaming (FG), two of the most dominant names in the e-Sports industry in South East Asia.

“Many players in the region are qualified to compete with the rest of the world. So we are looking forward to creating a ‘Shining Star’ South East Asia team that will have the ability to take part in the world stage of any e-sports tournament,” Purpose Win Entertainment Limited (PWEL)’s Project Director Sky Lim said.

The New Blood Championship is divided into three stages: Online Country Qualifiers, On-ground Country Finals, and the New Blood Championships Main Event. The open-country qualifiers will happen across five countries – Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines, as well as one additional “Rest of S.E.A” online qualifier that includes other countries in the region.
