Moto Z2 Play with Snapdragon 626 SoC and 4GB RAM Appears on GFXBench

Motorola's upcoming Moto Z2 Play has appeared on GFXBench, showing most of the device's key specs such as its chipset, memory configuration, and battery capacity.

As the successor to last year's Moto Z Play, Motorola's new device is expected to use a better Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 octa-core chipset that is clocked at 2.2GHz, paired with an Adreno 506 GPU. The Moto Z2 Play will also have a bigger 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. That is definitely an upgrade from last year's 3GB + 32GB memory configuration.

The Moto Z2 Play will sport the same 5.5-inch Full HD display of its successor, although there's going to be some noticeable changes in the camera department.

As per the GFXBench listing, the phone will have a 12-megapixel rear camera, which looks like a downgrade from the original Moto Z Play's 16-megapixel camera module. We'll see about that when the device is officially released. Otherwise, there's still the 5-megapixel selfie snapper.

In addition, Motorola's new phone will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and is previously reported to come with a 3000mAh non-removable battery. That's actually also a downgrade from the original's 3510mAh battery.

If previous leaks were correct, then we'll be expecting Motorola to unveil the new Moto Z2 Play on June 8.
