Eyeing to be your next fitness buddy, the device is packed with tracking features to boost your performance while working out. On top of that, wearing the Gear Sport is like having your fitness coach – looking after you – wherever you go.
Luckily, our team received a Gear Sport to try on. Pushing us to our limits, here’s our full review!

It sports a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display. And just like the brand’s smartphones' screens, the device offers sharp resolution, vibrant colors, and good brightness display even under direct sunlight. In addition, it offers numbers of faces and styles to compliment your taste or your outfit.
Flaunting a stainless steel body, it has a Rotating Bezel for navigating the interface, which is really useful most especially if you hate fingerprints on its screen. It is partnered with a 20mm removable rubber strap, which gives users an outdoor touch.

It is equipped with two buttons on the right side: one returns the user to the home screen, while the lower button is used to bring up the settings menu. At the back, the heart rate monitor is placed, touching the wrist.
Having a round face, the Gear Sport’s design could match your style, whether you are set to work out or not. During the launch, Samsung noted that the device is housed in a compact 43mm diameter body to ensure that users can comfortably wear it. However, personally, the device is bulky enough that users might remove it from their wrist for some rest. Nevertheless, its chunkiness is still manageable.

More than just a simple fitness buddy, the Gear Sport has satisfied our team as a smartwatch that can offer many things. Powered by a dual core processor clocked at 1.0GHz, it is complemented with 768MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage. Running on Tizen OS, it supports thousands of apps, including Spotify.

As we knew that it works best with Samsung smartphone, we’re impressed that it has no problem working with our iOS device. In fact, it has great connection and never failed in notifying us when we received alerts on our smartphone, including SMS, and other social media notifications.

We enjoyed using the Gear Sport whether when we’re working out, or simply as a simple smartwatch who loves watching our health. Its fitness trackers performed well all throughout our tests. It can even automatically detect workouts like running, cycling, and other activities once users have been doing it for at least 10 minutes.
Most of the time, the device is accurate except for the floors that we climbed. Sometimes it detects more numbers than the actual floors we reached, but frequently, it could not record the floors we took. Also, to track if sleeping is over, movement must be done first.
BATTERY:
Equipped with 300mAh battery, the device lasted for almost two days when we connected it on our smartphone. It can last up to three days or more, if users would not pair it with another device. Meanwhile, although it isn’t paired with another device, it only lasted for two days when we were actively using it.
CONCLUSION:
Overall, the Samsung Gear Sport is accurate as a fitness buddy, and is very useful whether you’re not up to working out. However, considering its price, we recommend this device to fitness enthusiasts over consumers who are only looking for casual usage. The Gear Sport is tagged at PhP14,990.
