Fortunately, our team received one. So, let's dig deeper here!

PACKAGING:

Inside the Box
Inside the Box

Cherry Mobile claimed that it’s the most premium smartphone under the Flare S6 series. Although it shares the same packaging box with other Flare S6 devices, what’s inside revealed its difference.

Inside the box, it has the Pump Express 2.0 USB wall charger, micro USB to USB Type-C cable, micro USB to USB adapter, earphones, SIM ejector tool, protective case, and paper documentations. True enough, the smartphone comes with a special treatment.

PHYSICAL:

Upgrading its game, the non-retail device of Cherry Mobile doubles as its most premium-looking smartphone yet. Flaunting a unibody metal shell that has smooth round edges and matched with thick black antenna band design, the Flare S6 Premium is painted with sexy red color that could probably steal attention.

5.5-inch Full HD IPS Screen

Its front is dominated by a 5.5-inch full HD IPS screen. Above the panel, its 13-megapixel selfie shooter, speaker, and LED flash are placed.

Below the screen, the home button is located, and it also works as a fingerprint scanner. Just like other Flare S6 handsets, the device uses on-screen keys for navigations, as well.

Its volume rocker and power/lock button are sited on the right side of the device, while its SIM tray is alone on its left portion. The 3.5mm audio jack port is positioned on top, while its bottom part accommodates its USB Type-C port and two speaker grills.

Dual Rear Cameras

Not impressed yet? Then, flip the device on its back to see how premium the device is. Its dual 13-megapixel rear cameras are placed at the upper left side of the device. You’d see its LED flash beside it, too.

Limited Edition
Limited Edition

This model won’t be tagged as a limited-edition smartphone for nothing, as the brand decided to put the owner’s name on the bottom part. Thumbs up?

Moreover, the device is easy to hold. It perfectly sits on our hands, and its size isn’t awkward to enable one-hand usage. All of its buttons are thoughtfully placed where we can easily reach it, as well.

Multi-Touch Test

Meanwhile, going back to its display, it features 5.5-inch full HD IPS screen that has 1920 x 1080 resolution. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, too. We just felt like the brand could go for an 18:9 screen display since it’s a premium smartphone, isn’t it? Nevertheless, it gave us a good viewing experience both indoors and outdoors. It only scored 5 on multi-touch test, though.

SOFTWARE:

Software
Software

The Flare S6 Premium runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat O.S., and is almost stock. It has no Cherry OS, too. User has options to hide or display its on-screen navigation keys. Also, it features an app drawer. You can organize your apps, as well, by creating folders.

It comes with some pre-installed apps, including Google apps and Cherry Mobile apps.

PERFORMANCE:

One of the most powerful phones of the local smartphone manufacturer, the Flare S6 Premium is powered by 64-bit Helio X27 deca-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz, and is paired with Mali-T880MP4 GPU. It is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Knowing these things, we assumed that it could handle heavy tasks. We still ran the device on various benchmark apps, though.

Here are the results:

Benchmark Results

  • AnTuTu: 77084
  • Geekbench: 983 (Single Core)
  • Geekbench: 4537 (Multi Core)
  • 3DMark: 14288 (Ice Storm Unlimited)
  • 3DMark: Max (Ice Storm Extreme)
  • 3DMark: 1289 (Sling Shot)
  • 3DMark: 1055 (Sling Shot Extreme)
  • Work 2.0: 4515

The Flare S6 Premium has a decent performance. It could smoothly manage heavy tasks. During our tests, the device could handle games and videos with heavy graphics. The device just lagged when we’re playing a game and we forgot to close multiple apps.

CAMERA:

Cherry Mobile’s Flare S6 line might be the proof that the brand is now serious in elevating their mobile photography. While all family members are offering good camera features, the Flare S6 Premium is packed with dual 13-megapixel Sony IMX 258 main cameras with dual-tone LED flash, and another 13-megapixel front shooter with LED flash, as well.

It features dedicated monochrome, bokeh effect, various filters, 3x digital zoom, and manual mode. For an improved selfie, it sports beautification feature to enhance your photo.

The device can produce good photos, but it didn’t perform well in lowlight, as grains and noises become too visible. Also, when using its front camera, we suggest to not use its beautification feature for more natural-looking photos.

CONNECTIVITY:

The Flare S6 Premium is a dual SIM device that supports LTE connectivity. It has basic connectivity features, including WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS. All of these worked well during our tests, as it has good signal reception.

BATTERY:

The Flare S6 Premium sports 3680mAh juice. It has Pump Express 2.0 fast charging, too, which can charge your device up to 75% in 30 minutes.

Look good on paper, we noticed that it couldn’t last longer when we used it as our main smartphone, which activities include basic communications, browsing social media apps, and watching videos. As a basic smartphone, it can last for almost two days. Basic activity only includes basic communications.

When we did our video loop test, the device lasted for 16 hours and 37 minutes.

CONCLUSION:

Overall, the Cherry Mobile Flare S6 Premium could be a competitive smartphone if it’s only available in the market. Having the most premium-looking design compared to other Flare S6 devices, it also offers powerful performance. Its cameras performed well, too!

Packed with great things, we bet you want it.
