The latest International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker dated March 2, 2018 reveals the Top Five Smartphone Companies in Southeast Asia based on shipment volumes and market share.

According to the report, Samsung still tops the list with 29.3% and 29.1% for the shipment volumes and market share made in 2017 respectively. It is followed by OPPO with 17.2% and 17%, next at the third spot is Vivo with 7.2% and 7.2%, then Huawei at the fourth place with 5.4% and 5.4%, and lastly Apple with 4.5% and 4.4%.

Based on the same report, the emerging SEA region, which consists of Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, accounted an approximately 100 million smartphone units shipped last year. In addition, the report said that some local and smaller players were losing out competitively with the top 4 players mentioned above with their low-end and midrange offerings.
