Phablet War: SKK Mobile Silver versus MyPhone A919i Duo

The “phablet” war is not only for foreign expensive brands, lately more and more local brands are venturing on this category. Phablet is a smartphone featuring screen sizes from 5.0 to 6.9 inches design to cater the functionalities of both phone and tablet.

MyPhone and SKK Mobile recently released their flagship phone which we can call phablets. The MyPhone has the A919i duo with 5.0 inch screen while the SKK Mobile has the Silver with 5.7 inch screen. Both handsets are powered by the MediaTek MT6589 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with PowerVR SGX544MP and 1 GB of RAM.

As you can see on the above picture, both phones can be considered as huge. See below for a run down of the specifications.

The SKK Mobile Silver bags the display, memory, camera, connectivity and battery department. The MyPhone A919i has the advantage of having additional sensors, LED Notification and slightly lower price. In practicality the SKK Silver has the edge especially for having a bigger memory, an 8GB internal storage which is pretty rare for local brands.

Now, which do you think is better?

  4. Great review! :)

One question, though: Does the SKK Silver support USB OTG? The A919i does. Thank you! I'll be waiting for your reply. :D

    1. The SKK Silver shows "External USB Storage" under storage settings, so I guess it supports OTG BUT I was not able to test when I review the unit. Sa ngayon wala na yung silver ko - nabenta na.

  5. More advantages of the SKK Silver is a pre-installed screen protector and a free cellphone case. The A919i, however, does not, but some say that it also comes with a free leather case but I'm not sure. hehe :)

    2. Hi, I'm sorry if my commenting too much is a bother.

The A919i has a BSI. Does the SKK Silver have this? Does the SKK Platinum? Thank you :)
