HARDWARE:
Front |
The front is mainly covered by the 5-inch FWVGA display which is a bit low for today's standard. Above the screen you can find the secondary camera, the earpiece, light and proximity sensors while below the display are the capacitive menu, home and back keys.
Back |
At the back of the device there is the 8MP main camera accompanied by an LED flash below it. The CHROME logo is located in the center, while the brand name is on the lower portion near the loudspeaker.
The back cover itself is a fingerprint and smudge magnet, good thing there is a free case that comes with the package else you will find yourself cleaning it most of the time.
Top |
The top features the 3.5mm audio jack together with the power key which doubles as the lock key.
Bottom |
The bottom houses microphone pin hole and the micro USB port. The latter has support OTG, wireless mouse and thumb drive are tested to be working.
Sides |
There is nothing on the left side while the right side holds the volume rocker. Overall, the design looks nice the chrome plastic around the sides adds contrast to the dominant black color. Handling wise, those with big hands can use it with just one, nonetheless it is not bulky and with the curve edges it feels slimmer.
DISPLAY:
As mentioned above the Chrome's display has only FWVGA (854x480) resolution and supports up to 5-finger touch.
5-point multi-touch |
The box doesn't say whether the display is IPS or not, so take a look on the photos below and decide for yourself.

SENSORS:
Sensors |
This SKK phablet has only basic sensors namely accelerometer, light, proximity and sound. Good thing all of them are working fine.
BENCHMARKS:
This is the first time I create graphs of different benchmarks of different smartphones for easier comparison. The color might not be appealing to you, so if you can suggest a better color combination just put it in the comment section below.
Antutu, 13639 |
Quadrant, 4034 |
NenaMark2, 51.9 fps |
Vellamo HTML, 1310 |
All devices included on the graphs are quad-core phones, the higher the benchmark scores the better.
INITIAL VERDICT:
The SKK Mobile Chrome benchmark scores are expected to a smartphone with MT6589 chipset. The specifications are quite similar to other devices, most noticeable advantages are the 8GB internal memory and the OTG support. However having a low resolution screen and below average battery capacity might be the major concerns for some.
