HARDWARE:
Front |
The front is dominated by the 7-inch screen surrounded by somewhat thick bezels. The camera and the earpiece can be found on the right side (above photo).
Back |
The back is where we can find the two speakers which SKK Mobile claims a good companion for the on-board Analog TV as well as consuming other media contents.
Above one speaker is the fixed-focus main camera accompanied by a dual-LED flash. The company logo is comfortably in the center while below it are the device name and the NTC markings.
Top |
Bottom |
The top portion (when holding the device in portray) has nothing on it while the bottom part holds the micro USB port, 3.5mm audio jack and the Analog TV antenna.
Left |
Right |
The right side has all the controls (volume rocker and power button) together with the 2 SIM card slots and micro SD slot.
DISPLAY:
5-Point Multi-touch |
The display of the Phoenix Tab 4 has no glass protection of any kind, its resolution (800x480) is also a bit low in today's standard. Aside from having a WVGA resolution, the tab 4 screen is made of ordinary panel which limits the viewing angle. The good thing is that it supports 5-point multi-touch.
BENCHMARKS:
Antutu 5686 |
Quadrant 2155 |
NenaMark2 21,7fps |
Vellamo, HTML 874 & Metal 315 |
The Phoenix tablet is powered by an older generation MediaTek processor which is MT6575, a single core Cortex-A9 based CPU clocked at 1GHz.
The above benchmark results are at par (and expected) when compared to other devices like DTC Mobile GT6c and DTC Mobile GT5s which employs the same chipset. Therefore I recommend you not to overload the tablet with applications and games in order for it to still run smoothly even having an outdated processor.
INITIAL VERDICT:
The SKK Mobile Phoenix Tab 4 is created with budget conscious consumers in mind. Its hardware is suitable for entry level tablet with additional perks such as full phone functionality with dual SIM dual standby support plus Analog TV for viewing your favorite shows on the go.
