INTRODUCTION:

Digits Trading, one of the leading distributors of accessories and lifestyle products in the Philippines sent us last week a uniquely designed power bank - the Momax iPower Xtra.

It shapes and looks like a can of energy drink, but it is not for human consumption instead it will give your gadget's ailing battery the boost they need to perform their task extra longer.

It boasts a massive 6600mAh battery capacity with a rated current output of up to 2.1A and it is compatible to almost, if not all digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, etc.

Retail package

The retail package consist of the iPower Xtra model number IP33, a 20cm micro USB to standard USB cable, instruction manual and a leaflet showing other Momax products.


HARDWARE:

The iPower Xtra comes in three colors - black, white and lastly blue which I have for this review. Design wise, there is nothing much to say since it really imitates your usual health drink in a can.

Power button, LED indicators, input and output ports

At the top you will see a cap, once it was lifted you will see the micro USB port use for charging and the standard USB for output. There is also a power button and for status lights, each light corresponds to remaining power of the battery, theoretically one blue indicator means 25% (or less) of the total capacity.


PERFORMANCE:

The power bank has factory charge, 3 lights were lit so basically it has 50 to 75 percent power by default. After two days since I first turned it on, the number of lights remains the same, this means that it can hold the power during standby mode which is a basic characteristic of a battery.

I fully charge it before I used in on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 which has a battery capacity of 4000mAh. The power bank managed to fully charge it (from 15%) and there are still two lights left. I used the remaining power to charge my Cherry Mobile Ultra (from 11%) which has 2000mAh battery and it still able to fill it up to 100%.


CONCLUSION:

The Momax iPower Xtra external battery pack works as it should, its 6600mAh capacity is more than enough to give your gadgets the power they need on the go anytime and anywhere. Its remarkable design will surely appeal to most people not to mention its form factor is smaller and more pocket friendly compared to others.
