DTC Mobile GT19A Helix Hands-on: 5-inch HD Quad Core KitKat Phablet

During the DTC Grand Launching held last July 6, we managed to check out a few of their latest devices, aside from their octa-core GT21 Neptune, we also got our hands-on with the GT19A Helix.

The Helix is a quad-core device boasting a 5-inch HD IPS touchscreen display that offers wide viewing angles and vivid color reproduction. Under the hood is a MediaTek MT6582 processor with four CPU cores clocked at 1.3GHz each coupled with 1GB of RAM.

There is an 8GB of on-board storage, expandable up to 32GB via micro SD card plus more, through external flash drive via its OTG capable micro USB port. The GT19A is just 7.9mm thin and currently the slimmest phone from DTC.

The front is fully laminated with glass, the test unit has a screen protector so I guess it does not have any scratch-resistant layer. Below the display is the usual menu, home and back keys while above the screen you find the earpiece grill, the hidden sensors and the secondary camera.

The back has a matte finish and it feels rubbery when touch, at the lower right portion you will see the loudspeaker grill while on the upper left portion you have the 13MP main camera accompanied by an LED flash.

Once you remove the cover you will see the 2000mAh battery, the micro SIM card slot and the micro SD card slot.

The top houses the micro USB port and the 3.5mm audio jack while at the bottom is just the microphone pin hole.

The volume rocker can be found on the left side while the power/lock button is located at the right side.

The DTC Mobile GT19A Helix might not be the thinnest smartphone on the local market, but I can say that it is one of the sexiest. The smooth silver linings on all sides gives added contrast to the black frame, resulting in a more polished and professional look. There is still no mention about its pricing and the actual release date, so please kindly stay tuned for the updates.
