INTRODUCTION:

Wireless Bluetooth speakers are very common these days which makes the competitions among manufacturers to be very stiff. One should have something different to offer in order to stand out, Braven knows this and created lines of products that are premium and rugged.

One of them is the Braven Mira, a portable Bluetooth speaker that has an integrated multi-purpose hook and a IPX5 water-resistant exterior.

Front & Back

When I took out the Mira from its box, I was really amazed how good looking it is. The combinations of metal, rubber and plastic are well blended resulting in a very stylish and premium looking speaker.

The front has a metal ring on the outer edge, it holds the volume/track controls found on its left and the power plus the play/pause/pair buttons on its right. The inner part houses the speaker grills and the BRAVEN branding that is boldly placed in the center.

At the back you will find the hook that can be used for different purpose, it can be used to hang it anywhere you want and can also be used as a stand. Speaking of hooks, one of the pre-defined purpose of Mira is to be used in the shower. Yep, that is right, you can hang it on your shower head, use it while you are taking a bath and it will still live for another day. But remember, it is only a water-resistant and not a water-proof, which means it can survive splash/stream of water, but not when completely submerged in water.

Ports

Along the rubber portion of the speaker you will find a flap cover, opening it will reveal the auxiliary port for a wired connection, the micro USB port for charging and the reset button. As a reminder, be sure to always close this cover whenever you want to use the Mira during your shower or when you are near to water like pool, etc. to avoid it getting wet, which may cause damage.

USAGE and PERFORMANCE:

Press and hold the power button for at least two to three seconds to turn on the Mira (same thing when you want to turn it off) then press the play button to start the pairing. On your device, activate the Bluetooth and select the 'BRAVEN Mira'. If in any case your device asks for passcode just enter '0000'.

I used an Android and iOS device during testing, both connects without any problem. I also use several feature phones as well as Windows PC and all of them work just fine. You can increase the volume by pressing the + button, the speaker will beep once the maximum volume is reached. The volume controls also act as skip track and skip back buttons, to do so, you need to press and hold them for a few seconds.

The Braven Mira speaker has an excellent audio output, the sounds coming out of it are crisps, loud with the right amount of bass. During our test, it can fill up a medium room with big, nice and clear sounds, enough for several people to enjoy the music or to be used on a teleconference. The Mira has a rated of 10 hours of music playback, to test if it is true I looped several songs, played it continuously, the result - an impressive 9 hours and 17 minutes. In terms of charging the Mira, you need around three hours before it can be fully charged.

The Mira also works as a speakerphone and has its own microphone too, this means that you can answer the call (by pressing the play button) and have a conversation even you are a few meters away from your phone. The call quality is very sharp and clear thanks to its noise-cancellation feature, both ends can understand each other even if you are just whispering.

  19. Braven Mira is cool, but It's more expensive than what I bought at goods.ph, It is also a waterproof Bluetooth speaker. (Here's the link: https://www.goods.ph/water-resistant-silicone-bluetooth-speaker-17389.html). We used it as our party sound maker when we went to batangas for our summer vacation. You can check the link if you want.
