INTRODUCTION:

There is no question that the camera is one of the important features that consumers are looking for a smartphone and this is the reason why most mobile phone manufacturers are producing devices with strong focus on camera capabilities. The latest one to join the trend is Lenovo Mobile with their newest flagship, the Lenovo Vibe Shot.

The Lenovo Vibe Shot was unveiled locally late last month and was initially available online though Lazada Philippines before rolling out to the physical stores. The biggest advantage you can get when you buy it from Lazada is the more affordable price tag, which is Php16,999 or 1,000 pesos more affordable than its Php17,999 mall price.

It boasts a 5-inch IPS full HD display with around 441 pixel density and covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for added toughness and protection against scratches. Powering from the inside is a 64-bit octa core Qualcomm processor with 4 CPU cores clocked at 1.7GHz each and another 4 CPU cores clocked at 1.1GHz each. Meanwhile, the Andreno 405 handles the phone's graphics rendering capability while the massive 3GB of RAM keeps heavy multitasking at ease. It also comes with a huge 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via micro SD card up to 128GB, giving you more than enough space for photos and videos.

VIDEO UNBOXING and HANDS-ON:

The rectangular-shape retail black box has a large VIBE printed on it, after removing the top cover, you will be greeted by the handset with a pre-fitted back case. After you pick up the phone, you will find the free screen protector followed by the other things in the package, namely charger, USB cable, wired headset, ejector pin and paper documents. To know more about its physical attribute, you can watch the video unboxing and hands-on above.

INITIAL IMPRESSION:

The Lenovo Vibe Shot is touted to be a camera phone and it does really look like one in person. In addition, it has a dedicated physical shutter key plus a toggle switch for auto/pro mode. Moreover, it allows the user to quickly capture a photo even the screen is off by simply pressing any of the volume keys twice.

In terms of design, aside from its great resemblance to a point-and-shoot camera, it is really a good looking phone with premium aesthetics and solid build quality. However, the glossy nature of its back attracts fingerprints and smudges, thankfully the retail package comes with a free back case. It is also quite light, despite of having metallic frame. Handling wise, it is comfortable to hold and use in just one one.

Moving on to its raw processing power, it scored more than 38K in Antutu, exceeded 25K in Quadrant and 59.1 fps in NenaMark2. In real life usage, it is generally smooth handling every day tasks like web browsing, productivity stuffs and light to moderate applications. However, in some games and apps that are heavy on resources, we did encounter slight hiccups and that is when the reality starts to sink in, it is an imaging device and not a powerhouse smartphone.
