| PLDT and Smart Powered Manila Masters 2017, the Country’s Biggest Esports Event |
Smart Communications and PLDT Home subscribers had a chance to be part of the country’s biggest eSports tournament, as the telecom giant supported the Manila Masters 2017 through its exciting contests meant for the fans and gamers.
In partnership of Mineski Events Team and ESL Gaming, the Manila Masters 2017 gathered eight DoTA 2 teams from around the world to clash for the USD 250,000 grand prize, held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last May 26 to 28, 2017.
Along with the country’s representative, Clutch Gamers, the teams also include EG, OG, Newbee, Team Secret, Invictus Gaming, Team NP, and Faceless.

Smart gave its users a chance to win tickets to the gaming event by simply following their official accounts on Facebook and Twitter. Aside from this, gamers and fans who watched the competition also got a chance to battle out for the prizes at the DoTA 2-themed Smart base, in which cosplayers lived out popular DoTA 2 heroes, and brought life-sized items from the game.
Manila Masters isn’t the first eSports event that Smart had supported. Last year, the company also sponsored ESL One Manila 2016 – the biggest gaming tournament in Southeast Asia.
